We loved the food at Club Colombia. One of the best latin american food spots in Melbourne. The venua has a lovely traditional deco, the service was great and friendly and the food was lovely. Would highly recommend the arepa de chocolo and the platano filled with carne.
I recently dined at Club Colombia in Melbourne and I was blown away by the delicious and heart-warming food. The traditional Colombian dishes were cooked to perfection and filled with authentic flavors. If you're looking for a taste of Colombia in Melbourne, I highly recommend giving Club Colombia a try. You won't be disappointed!
The flavours are really good.
The portion sizes are pretty large as well.
Overall happy with this place, would come back again.
Only thing to watch out for is - the menu doesn’t list all key ingredients. Due to covid we ordered from the online menu, I ordered a dish that said chicken and did not list any other meats - I don’t eat pork, when I got the dish it had pork in it.
I obviously found out only after taking a bite. I’m not allergic or anything, I just don’t eat pork. They were very apologetic and took it away - giving me another one without pork.
When you are ordering a dish - just check before placing your order if it definitely doesn’t include any ingredients that you don’t eat, as clearly the key ingredients are not listed on the dish description.
We’re all sleeping on Colombian food here in Melbourne! I was so lucky to find this hidden gem when I was browsing google maps on where to go for my Saturday Date Night.
Colombian food is something that I’ve never tried before, so coming here was a very exciting experience for me. We ordered:
1. Beef & potato empanada
2. Arepa de queso (Cheesy arepa)
3. Patacon Pisa’o Carne (Fried plaintain with meat on top)
4. Punta de Anca a la planca, with Papas Fritas and Aji (Steak with chips and Salsa on the side)
5. Colombian sugar cane lemonade
I was blown away on how delicious these dishes are!! The empanada was crunchy and I think it might’ve used cornmeal pastry as the flavor was quite dominant, I loved it so much 😍
The cheesy arepa was quite yummy and sweet, it had a taste like it should be a dessert somehow.
The Patacon was something that doesn’t taste familiar at all to me but it’s pretty good. I wouldn’t have it again though cause it’s too heavy for me as it’s fried, but the pulled beef on top was spot on!
The Punta de Anca or Sirloin Steak was surprisingly excellent! For only $18 (chips and Aji sauce were add ons $3 and $2 respectively), it’s a damn good steak! Perfectly cooked and well seasoned, great to eat with the Aji which is a Salsa with cilantro, jalapeno, tomatoes, green onion, lemon juice and white vinegar. The salsa was a great to balance to the fats on the steak itself.
Overall, everything was perfect! I was confused on why the place was almost empty when we visited, it really deserves a long queue outside their door, it’s THAT good!! 😍 Please give this place a try and let me know how it goes ✨
My mother and I loved the food here! Amazing staff and atmosphere. I'd highly suggest this place and plan to return.
I had a great time with my mate for his birthday. Highly recommended if you want to taste traditional Colombian food and spirits.
A nice little Colombian restaurant in the CBD. Found this place through Google map and we saw the review was good. We were hungry for brunch and decided to give this a try.
The service was friendly and the foods were big in portion. You'll definitely feel full after eating here. You can even share it with friends.
You should definitely try their signature hot chocolate which comes with cheese. It's a very unique experience.
The place also felt homey which was nice.
Real score 3.3 out of 5.
I’m not sure this cafe justifies the hype. On the positive side, Queen Street is a pretty sober grey type of area, I reckon. It needed a brightly fitted out cafe like this with such fun colours. So, the feel good cafe fit out here works, I think. I just grabbed an egg and bacon brioche this time. It was respectable and not bad. The coffee was pretty good too. Dark, rich and tasty. I might return at some point for some of the authentic Colombian dishes although it’s hard for me to imagine they could beat the beauty of the rustic Colombian dishes at Cento Mani eastward down on Flinders Street. It remains to be seen.
On the negative side, I found the service cool and distant here. I received no greeting at all on arrival. There was evident warmth at all from the two people working there at any point including when I left. Service was therefore very transactional. Even the most basic cafe knows to say hello, be pleasant during service, and to say thanks and goodbye on exit. That wasn’t happening here. I wasn’t seeing much different with the various other customers who came in and out either.
Bottom line, there was not much wow factor evident here to me. The cafe certainly didn’t match the hype of the current very high score. Rather, it just struck me as a mid range cafe at best.
